International Language Day ~ my recent comments on BarefootBooks.com

I recently blogged to Barefoot Book’s site on International Language Day about the merits (and the fun) of learning a second language. See http://blog.barefootbooks.com/2012/02/foreign-language-learning/.  One of my key points was that learning a second language “enriches and enhances a child’s mental development, and it has a positive effect on intellectual growth”.  For more information on my weekly children’s classes at Barefoot Books in Concord Massachusetts, see my children’s classes page on this site.

Welcome to Fun with French

BONJOUR!
Welcome to Fun with French.

Are you looking for a new experience for you or your child?  How about the gift of language?  At Fun with French you can currently find classes for your child in Concord and Acton, MA.  I am also offering adult classes in Acton MA.

“Fun with French” is my motto.  Whether it be a class for a very young child, an elementary-aged student, or even tutoring for a junior or senior high school student, I can offer you classes to help your child be exposed to another language and culture in a fun, enriching environment.

Would you yourself be interested in a beginner or intermediate French class?  I teach beginners as well as intermediate students who have studied French before but have become “rusty” or simply want to improve their understanding and ability to communicate in French.

Studies have shown that learning a second language at any age has several benefits:

  • Has a positive effect on intellectual growth
  • Enriches and enhances a child’s mental development
  • Leaves students with more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to language, and a better ear for listening
  • Improves a child’s understanding of his/her own native language
  • Gives a child or adult the ability to communicate with people he/she would otherwise not have the chance to know
  • Opens the door to other cultures and helps a child or adult understand and appreciate people from other countries
  • Gives a student a head start in language requirements for college
  • Increases job opportunities in many careers where knowing a second language is a real asset
